What Is Your Favorite Form Of Exercise?

The word exercise to me just sounds like hard work. :(

That’s why I don’t kill myself when I go into the gym. I do exercise that is fun for me, I love to swim so I tend to do laps and other swimming exercises I learned at aquafit.

I also love aquafit but have been a real loner lately so I haven’t bothered, I guess I’m just not into the group thing right now. It might be something to do with the emotions I’m feeling and dealing with.

Sometimes I just float.

I go every single day, Monday – Friday. That’s the commitment I have made to myself. But some days I don’t feel like doing anything so I just simply… float.

It gets my foot in the door right?

At least I get inside the gym, it’s habit and my make up and hair always turn out nice after a good shampoo and blow dry.

I enjoy the “spa” area of the gym, inside the women’s area there is a sauna and steam room and every single day I go inside both of them after my swim.

I feel fresh and ready for my day — even if all I did was float.

Because I love swimming I purchased prescription goggles, I have never owned a pair in my life. It sure makes swimming a lot more fun when I can actually see something!

I also paid for private swimming lessons.

I’ve always known how to swim but I wanted to learn how to do the front crawl properly.

You have to breathe out under the water and I was surprised the first time she asked me to do this I suddenly had a fear of putting my face in the water. I gather it’s from all the years I’ve spent swimming “above” the surface.

All I’m waiting on is a really good swim suit that I ordered from my instructor.  It’s more polyester so it will last longer in a pool with chlorine.

I love to swim, I float — today I did lunges back and forth, I just love everything about it.

What type of exercise do you do? Why?

I enjoy swimming too. I also like to use my balance ball for yoga and weight lifting. My favorite equipment right now is my AbLounge.

Tennis! I try to play 2-3 times per week. It’s been my love since I was a child. I gave it up for 10+ years and just started back last year at the start of my weight loss quest. I can’t believe I went so long without playing!
Kickboxing is a close second though. This is new to me, and I absolutely love it. When ever I have a crappy day, it’s a great feeling to beat the S#*t out of something!!! LOL

I like biking – it’s fun but doesn’t feel like a workout. I also havve recently got really into hula hooping. I’ve made my own hoops, even. Again, really good exercise but it doesn’t feel like work at all!

Swimming is a favorite of mine too but I just don’t get to the pool that often.

    Hey Jeannette,

I’ve never heard of Ab Lounge, will have to check that out. I think my problem is I see the ball and then I’m like, now what do I do with it? lol.

    Hi Tracy,

How cool! I love watching people play tennis and imagine myself playing too. I always figured I’m just too overweight to play it right now. Kinda like a catch 22, I’d totally benefit from it, but feel that I’m too “big” to do it. any suggestions there?

I’ve never tried kickboxing and I can tell ya you made me laugh when I read that you get to kick the S#*t out of something, I need to do that too. :)

    Hey Angela,

Biking that sounds fun. I walk the sea wall here in Vancouver which is 10KM and hubby keeps trying to convince me to ride the bike with it. I do own a bike, Leo bought one for me when we started our weight loss journey, hubby has lost almost 90 lbs now, no lie I should show before and after photos. Yet here I sit still overweight. oh well at least I’m doing something about it. note to self, try biking again.

Thanks ladies for posting, I think it’s neat to notice that we all have different personalities and different likes that you really need to find your own groove.

Talking about groove — I’m going to try the “groove” dance class at the gym. I met with the instructor and she told me what to buy so I went and got proper clothing for it @ Walmart.

Vera, Your definitely not too overweight to try playing tennis. I gave it up for far too long because I thought I was just too fat to do it.
Last year when I dusted off my racquet, I was 250 lbs! Did I think I would die? Of course I did! I took a cardio tennis class and thought I would die within the first 10 minutes! Now I am playing 2-3 times a week for 2 hours at a time. It was a big part of my weigh loss puzzle. I wouldn’t give it up for the world now!
If anything look to see if you have a facility near you that offers the cardio tennis classes. You don’t need to even know how to play to participate. http://cardiotennis.com/

Thanks so much Tracy for this encouragement! Seriously, it’s amazing all the self talk that happens. :)
